Public Works
The Department of Public Works provides essential services that are an integral part of our citizens’ everyday lives. The delivery of our services is key in maintaining and improving the quality of life for our residents and businesses.
Public Works is responsible for the maintenance of:
- Streets Throughout the Village
- Parkway Trees and Landscape Beds
- Tree Branch Collection and Chipping
- Street Sweeping
- Snow and Ice Control
- Drinking Water
- Water Main Repairs
- Storm and Waste Water Collection Systems
- Fleet Maintenance
- Joint Leyden Township & Village of Schiller Park Animal Trapping Program
The Department of Public Works also functions as “First Responders” working hand in hand with Fire and Police personnel during emergency operations. The Department is tasked with critical assignments to restore community services in a timely manner.
The Department is committed to ensuring the Village’s infrastructure and fleet are properly maintained and enhanced. Working together, we will provide exceptional services to our residential and business communities. The Department is also responsible for performing JULIE locates of our underground water and sewer pipes to ensure they are not struck during a dig. More information about JULIE and the need to call them when you are digging on your property can be found here.
Anyone experiencing problems or anyone having questions about Public Works Department activities can call the Department at 847-671-8554, Monday thru Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In the evenings or on weekends, if a problem arises which requires immediate attention, please call the Police Department's Non-Emergency number at 847-678-4794.
