Message from the Mayor

It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I write this first message as your new Village President. As a 30+ year resident, business owner, former member of the Leyden Township Board and member of the Schiller Park Fire and Police Commission, I feel confident that I am equipped and ready to assume the position that you, the residents, have entrusted to me. As your Mayor, I will promote more family friendly activities, develop programs that benefit our seniors and make respect for the taxpayers a hallmark of my service.

Newly-elected Village Clerk, Rosa Jos and Trustees Moses Diaz, Tom Deegan and Joan Golembiewski will join me to create a unified team committed to turning our long-range plans into a reality for the residents of our great Village. We will be supported by current Trustees Catherine Gorzynski, Russell Klug and Robert Lima whose knowledge and experience will help guide us as we take on the challenges before us. We are a diverse group of individuals from various backgrounds. We all have individual areas of strength and at times, different opinions, but there is one thing upon which we all agree. We will always put the needs of our community and residents first.

Over the coming months, we will work closely with the various Village department heads and employees to ensure a smooth transition as we prioritize the tasks ahead. It is our intention to continue to attract new jobs and businesses that suit our family-friendly community. This will increase our tax base. We will look for opportunities to cut spending while increasing efficiency. In addition, we would like to streamline the permit process to make it easier to do business in Schiller Park. Resources will be dedicated to street improvement and projects that beautify our community. We will hire a coordinator to specialize in senior-related programs and outreach. We will keep you updated on our progress toward these goals and welcome your input as we go forward.

I’d like to acknowledge the service of Mayor Barbara Piltaver and thank her for her service to the Village of Schiller Park. She dedicated countless hours to the community and for that we are grateful. On behalf of the entire Village, we wish her well in her future endeavors. I would also like to recognize Village Clerk Claudia Irsuto, Trustee Lawrence Fritz and Trustee Richard Desecki and thank them for their many years of service to our Village. Your experience, leadership and dedication will be missed.

In closing, thank you again for your trust and confidence in us. We look forward to serving you!

                                                                     Nick Caiafa, Village President
