The Lions Club of Schiller Park along with the Schiller Park Health Board are holding a FREE hearing and sight testing event on Tuesday, October 15th at the Schiller Park Community Center at 4501 N. 25th Avenue in Schiller Park from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. You do not need to be a village resident to take part in this event.
The eye test is a retinal screening; checking your eyes for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, the hearing test of course to check hearing loss. Both of these tests take only minutes and require no sign up on the part of the participant, only show up at the Community Center at the appropriate time and patience if there if a line. Highly recommended for those over the age of 55.
This year we are adding something new for children for ages 6 months to 6 years. The Lions have a special camera that will take a picture of your child’s eye and can screen them for 5 various eye sight problems: far-sightedness, near sightedness, astigmatism, lazy eye and strabismus (eyes as not directed to an object at the same time). The first few years of a child’s life are critical in the development of good vision; caught early they can be effectively treated.
For questions contact Pat Jagelski from the Health Board at 708-380-9548.
In conjunction with this event, the Village of Schiller Park will hold its October blood drive from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Community Center.
