Village helps Make-A-Wish Fulfill Wish!

A Message from Mayor Nick:

This morning, I had the honor of witnessing a hero being celebrated by other heroes. Schiller Park’s resident shining star, Jacob, had his wish to travel to O’Hare Airport in a Schiller Park squad car, en route to Disney World, granted.

Jacob’s courage, strength, and his infectious smile are an inspiration to us all. When our staff learned of Jacob’s wish to ride in a Schiller Park squad car, we knew we had to make his ride as special as he is.

We called our surrounding towns, and they answered, in droves.

On behalf of the Village of Schiller Park, I want to thank the Villages of Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Harwood Heights, and Bensenville for sending their Police Chiefs, officers, squad cars, and fire vehicles. Thank you to the Schiller Park Police Director and Fire Chief, and all the men and women of those departments who appeared at the sendoff or along the route to the airport. Our thanks are also given to the Chicago Police Department, O’Hare Division, for the traffic control and escort at the airport. Our gratitude is also extended to all of the residents, family, friends and supporters who took time out of their day to come out this morning and pay tribute to our 7-year-old hero.

We want to extend a special thank you to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, who made this memorable experience and trip to Disney World possible for our hometown warrior.

The hundreds of people who appeared this morning helped make this experience special for Jacob and his family, and for that, we are endlessly grateful.

The Schiller Park Community continues to pray and send positive thoughts and love Jacob’s way.
Today and always, Schiller Park will be #JacobStrong!
