Flood Plain Remap for Crystal Creek - NOW IN EFFECT!

The Villages of Schiller Park and Franklin Park hired an engineering firm to obtain a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) or a Flood Plain Remap for Crystal Creek. The Floodplain Remap was approved by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Flood Plain Remap became effective on December 7, 2018.

In November 2018 the Village sent a letter to each of the 400+ affected residents and businesses to share details of the Flood Plain Remap. The letter explained the process on how this new map applies to individual properties. The letter also included a map of the residential or business property showing the property under the old 2008 floodplain and where it is in the new floodplain map which took effect December 7, 2018.

An interactive floodplain map (showing past and present) is available on the website in electronic format by clicking here. In addition the Village has large versions of the 2008 Floodplain map and the new 2018 Floodplain map on display at the Village Hall and the Library for resident review. There is also information on the FEMA Flood Map website under "Schiller Park" by clicking here. You want to click on "Changes to this FIRM" and then select "Revisions" and the click on and download the item "17-05-6422P-170159 12/07/2018". It is a large file so it will take time to download.

If you did not receive a letter and are unsure why or if you have questions about the floodplain remap process please contact Assistant Village Manager Brian Bursiek at (847) 671-8534 or via email at
