Residents are encouraged to use the yard waste disposal program provided through Flood Brothers. All yard material including grass and garden clippings, leaves, Christmas trees, and tree and shrub branches that do not exceed four inches in diameter should be placed in a waterproof plastic or metal container with a tight-fitting cover. Yard waste may also be placed in a biodegradable bag, and it cannot exceed 32 gallons or 50 pounds. Make sure to label the container or bag “Yard Waste.”
Branches and brush must be placed at the curb by 7:00 am every Tuesday during chipping season (April - November). Collection and chipping are usually completed by late Wednesday afternoon. Crews may require more than one day to complete removal to accommodate storm-related clean-up.
Branches should be placed curbside with the cut ends toward the street. Unorganized or tangled brush piles will not be collected. Only branches from trees and bushes (up to eight inches in diameter at the cut end) will be eligible for pick up.
Branches should not exceed four feet in length and the ends must be cleanly cut with no attached root systems. Tree branches and brush not placed in an approved container should be bound only with biodegradable string or twine in bundles not more than four feet in length, two feet in diameter, and weighing not more than 50 pounds and manageable by one person.
Materials such as construction wood and debris, wood with nails or spikes, wooden fence pieces/doors, electronics, firewood logs, dirt, tires, rose bushes, poison ivy, and all contractor generated brush will not be collected and must be disposed of by the resident through other means.
The Village also provides a free electronics recycling program in a large container for residents to use that is located behind the Public Works garage in the Village Hall Parking lot.
