As a result of amendments to the Clean Water Act in 1987, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiated a program in which they assumed authority over the management of Stormwater. In 2003, the program was expanded further to include small municipalities (MS4) including the Village of Schiller Park. As set forth by the EPA, the goal of the program is to reduce the amount of pollutants in stormwater runoff. Since an informed public is important to achieving this goal the Village encourages residents to visit the
Environmental Protection Agency Stormwater Website to explore what they can do to help protect our waterways. Documents relating to the MS4 program (including past reports) can be found in the
Document Center under "Public Works" then "Stormwater Management". The "Stormwater Management Program Plan" is a large 70 page document and is not available on the website - a copy can be obtained at the Village Hall.
